This metal possesses a combination of properties which make it very useful in the building industry, for example, its high resistance to corrosion, its lightness and ductility. When getting into contact with air, natural aluminium quickly forms a thin superficial layer of waterproof and adhesive aluminium oxide, which stops the oxidation process. This makes it highly resistant to corrosion and adds to the durability. However, in order to enhance these effects and give them a more decorative finish, aluminium undergoes special finishing processes, like ANODIZED or LACQUERED. Although the aluminium profiles can be easily cleaned with any common cleaning product, it is not advisable to use steel wool, acid or abrasive cleaners (hydrochloric acid, bleach, etc.), because they can deteriorate or scratch the profiles.
To ensure a perfect preservation of the decorative finish that characterizes this material, it is essential to clean the profiles immediately after applying them, as well as to remove any cement or other remainders of materials used for the attachment of the profile. Aluminium can be recycled 100% without diminishing its qualities
